As Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer, Lindsey Hellawell’s role is crucial at the club as she is the first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns.
For Lindsey, her volunteer role is a way of giving something back to the club and wider community. She currently has responsibility not only for the club’s development teams, but also the Women’s and Deaf sides.
She said: “One reason I took the role is because my son plays for the under 8s and I have seen how much time and effort the coaches put in every week.
“People are always working and it doesn’t always get seen by parents, like Stocky and Stubbsy making sure the pitches are ok for the development teams to play.
“That is why I wanted to do my bit and help out. I wanted to give something back.”
So far Lindsey’s work has included ensuring all coaches across the club are up to date with their DBS checks. She is the first point of contact if anyone has any safeguarding issues they wish to raise and is responsible for protecting vulnerable individuals.
She’s been watching games and training from our different teams to make sure everything is OK.
“I’m enjoying my role and it has been good to see FC Farsley go from strength to strength,” she added.
