Fresh off the back of the fantastic victory in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup match against AFC Tickton, Izzy Roads’ side went into today’s league opener full of confidence and optimism about the new season which was added to with the first outing for this season’s FC Farsley home kit.

Things could not have started better for The Weavers as some lovely interplay found Emma O’Hanlon who threaded a beautiful through ball for debutant Mystee Kearns to chase and Kearns’ first time effort was tucked into the bottom corner with aplomb to put Farsley one up in the first five minutes.

This was unfortunately as good as things got for Farsley from a goal scoring perspective although not for any lack of effort or creativity. Modernians found their equaliser with a close range volley after 15 minutes and took the lead shortly before half time.

The second half was where the experience and overall quality of Mods paid off. While not creating too many clear cut chances, they were absolutely clinical at pouncing on Farsley errors and two second half goals put the icing on the cake to confirm the 1-4 defeat for Farsley.

Next up is a return to FA Cup qualifying action as The Weavers travel down the M1 to take on Stocksbridge Park Steels. See you there!
