FC Farsley Women headed over to LS29 to take on familiar opposition in Ilkley Town whose journey up the pyramid has coincided with our own.
It was a horribly wet day in West Yorkshire and a quick start was needed after recent performances. However, it was Ilkley who took an early lead, striking in the 7th and 16th minute to immediately take control of the match.
Farsley’s performance was dogged but Ilkley matched them and always seemed to have a player available to shut down the options available to any Farsley player.
2-0 at half time and would take a turn around on the scale of recent displays to change the game here, and it seemed to have started so well as Neve Makin bundled home from very close range after Shirley Murphy’s corner.
Unfortunately for Farsley this was not the start of another thrilling comeback as some unfortunate mistakes in defence let Ilkley run rampant and it was a chastening defeat for FC Farsley that leaves plenty to work on this week before we host Millmoor Juniors at Leeds Beckett next weekend.
