After last week’s disappointing display away at local rivals Ilkley Town, FC Farsley Women needed a fast start in order to get back to winning ways, and they certainly did not disappoint on a cold October’s afternoon at Leeds Beckett University.
Daisy O’Brien continued her impressive start to her debut season in open-age football with a lovely turn and strike that found the bottom corner with just five minutes on the clock and that set the tone for an absolutely dominant first half from The Weavers.
A second goal was swiftly forthcoming as high pressure from Georgina Kaye forced a Millmoor defender to turn a cross into her own net after a period of sustained pressure.
There was very little work for the Farsley defence in the first half and the midfiled had control of the ball and was playing some wonderful passes that put Millmoor on the back foot time and time again.
On the brink of half time, Neve Makin scored her second goal in as many games to make it three, and there was still time for Kaye to score one of the all time great FC Farsley Women’s goals with an unbelievable strike to make it 4 and ultimately seal the victory before the half time whistle.
The second half was less high scoring as Izzy Roads rotated the side and gave opportunities to the bench and while Millmoor did pull one goal back with a powerful header from close range, it was Farsley’s day and a well deserved 3 points was brought back to the Throstle Nest!
