FC Farsley Women headed down the A64 to take on a York City Development side who would have been desperate to avenge their defeat in the reverse fixture.

Izzy Roads took the chance to rotate the side and give well earned opportunities to impress to a number of players, however it was a characteristic slow start for The Weavers as York City Devs took the lead in the fifth minute after a low cross was was turned in.

The first half was quite the battle as neither team took full control of possession and and territory but Farsley’s equaliser came from the returning Imogen Nichols who latched onto Leigh Bamford’s long ball forward from a freekick to chip it towards goal and the fingertips of the York goalkeeper couldn’t prevent it from crossing the line.

An unfortunate incident at the end of the first half resulted in Georgina Kaye leaving the field with an arm injury and a red card being given to the offending York player, but York seemingly took it in stride and capitalised on a mistake at the back to take the lead going into the break.

Three substitutions at half time as Ebony Hartnett, Sydney Johnson, and Kath Raw joined the action and not long after Leigh Bamford earned her second assist, in the same fashion as her first, as Shirley Murphy poked the long ball beyond the goalkeeper to make it 2-2.

Mystee Kearns got our third with a first time effort that curled away from the goalkeeper and into the top corner and Kate Priestley sealed the three points with her first goal in open age football on her first start for FC Farsley in some style.
